Dirty Dancing

It's the summer of 1963, and 17 year old Frances 'Baby' Houseman is about to learn some major lessons in life as well as a thing or two about dancing.

On holiday in New York's Catskill Mountains with her older sister and parents, 'Baby' shows little interest in the resort activities, and instead discovers her own entertainment when she stumbles upon the staff quarters when an all-night dance party is in full swing.

Forty years after Diana Ross and the Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson & the Miracles first arrived in the UK in the spring of 1965 with the Tamla Motown Revue tour, Dancing in the Streets recreates what it was like to be there and to experience the energy, style and music of the greatest stars of the Motown stable.

Motown was a prominent force in breaking down barriers around the world and, equally as important, was responsible for producing some of the world's most influential and enduring songs of the 20th century. Designed by W.G.R Sprague, the Aldwych Theatre opened in 1905 at the same time as its twin, the Strand Theatre. They were built with identical facades, same seating capacity of over 1000 and opened within 7months of each other.
